The Book of Knowledge?
I have always heard that to write a book you must write about what you know or have experienced…so, I am starting a blog in hopes that it may help others and maybe someday be book worthy.
For the past 20 years I have been in the design industry. This blog is a an accumulation of my life - a career that encompasses every moment of my life (okay over exaggeration, almost every moment…). Even now as I write this blog at 6:30am (a very uncommon hour for me to be up, especially after only going to bed at 2:00am), I find the creative juices flowing causing another sleepless night. I am sure other creative people are not unlike me in the hours that they work and play which is uncommon to the norm, or is it? My husband of almost 25 years still does not understand how I can function on not much sleep or none at all! There are many nights I have stayed up all night long and continue to work or go into another day because of work. This is usually when I am going away on vacation. I will pull an “All Nighter”, to get caught up and make sure all is tied up before I head out of town. I am sure it is not just me, but I need to make sure my clients’ will be taken care of in an emergency situation (knock on wood)! I have found that once I am up and moving, no matter the time, I can make it through the new day. Funny thing though, through high school or my university years you would never catch me staying up all night to study! I am lucky that I have my own business, if I need to sleep a little past 7:30 or 8:00am I can - this is one of the perks of being your own boss!
After being in the design industry for over 20 years. Working for another design firm, owning a company with a business partner, to owning my own company, I still learn lessons in design and life everyday.
To all the new eager interior designer’s, or those that want to become an interior designer, or to those that are interested in learning the tricks of the trade… follow my blog and hopefully learn a few of my lessons and hopefully not make the same mistakes I made!
